Joan Rivers, birth name Joan Alexandra Molinsky, was born on June 8, 1933. Rivers is known for her Hollywood career in television and theatre, her work as a comedienne, and her written works. She graduated Barnard College and went on to work as a tour guide, writer, and fashion consultant. She was first married to James Sanger (son of the Bond Clothes Stores merchandise manager) in 1955. The marriage was annulled after six weeks when Rivers discovered that Sanger did not want children. She went on to find love with Edgar Rosenberg and married him in 1965 and they conceived Joan’s only child, Melissa Warburg Rosenberg (more commonly known as Melissa Rivers) in 1968. Unfortunately, Edgar Rosenberg committed suicide in 1987. Joan has one grandson (Melissa’s son), Edgar Cooper Endicott (referred to as Cooper). Joan has been open about her life through her biography and interviews. She has revealed that she battled bulimia and had suicidal thoughts at one point in her life and she overcame her problems through counseling and family support. Rivers has also admitted to multiple marital affairs with costars while married to Rosenberg.
