He developed an interest in music and performance at an early age, fronting a series of bands throughout high school, and worked for a time as a stage magician’s assistant. Though he had dreams of stardom, Gene found time to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education, and even worked briefly as a sixth grade teacher.
