Evelyn de Rothschild was born on August 29, 1931 to Anthony Gustav de Rothschild and Yvonne Cahen d’Anvers. He grew up during World War II in the U.S. while raised in a wealthy and influential family. He attended Harrow School before enrolling at Trinity College of Cambridge University to study history, although he dropped out before earning a degree. Early on in his life, Rothschild married Jeannette Bishop, Sir Stanley Hooker’s niece, but divorced in 1971. He then attempted marriage for a second time, marrying Victoria Lou Schott in 1973. The couple had three children together, but the marriage ended in divorce in 2000. Rothschild married again in 2000 to an American lawyer, Lynn Forester, with whom he is still married. Forester has two children of her own from a previous marriage. The couple were invited to spend their honeymoon in the White House, which they accepted.

Although Evelyn de Rothschild never completed his degree at Trinity College of Cambridge University, he went on to become the director of de Rothschild Fr̬res in 1968 and also moved on to work as the bank chairman of Victor Rothschild. Some of his other business ventures include working as Director of De Beers Consolidated Mines and IBM United Kingdom Holdings Limited. In 1972 Rothschild worked as the chairman of The Economist for a period of 17 years while also working as the chairman of British Merchant Banking & Securities House Association in the same time frame. His net worth continued to grow once becoming the director of Lord Beaverbrook’s newspaper group, in addition to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
