Paul Hewson, known professionally as Bono, is a musician, philanthropist, and activist best known for being the frontman of the band U2. Born May 10th, 1960 in Dublin, Ireland, Hewson was raised along with his brother in a suburb of a town called Finglas. During his youth, Hewson received his now famous nickname “Bono” while part of a street gang. Bono’s mother passed away when he was just 14, which inspired a number of U2’s songs.
